A Wonderful Day Out in Shakespeare’s Town

Our social club members enjoyed a wonderful change of scenery on Wednesday 10th June 2026, as they set off together for a day trip to the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon

The fun began before they had even arrived, with drinks and snacks available throughout the coach journey and a free onboard raffle organised by our brilliant volunteers Marie and Cath. With two prizes won on the way there and another two on the journey home, there was plenty of excitement to get the day off to a cheerful start!

Once the group arrived in Stratford-upon-Avon, everyone was free to explore the town at their own pace and make the day their own. Some members stopped for lunch, while others browsed the shops and charity shops or enjoyed a peaceful walk beside the River Avon.

A visit to Marks & Spencer proved particularly popular, while some members headed to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, where they explored an exhibition featuring historic costumes worn in Royal Shakespeare Company productions.

Three members were also able to hire mobility scooters through Shopmobility, helping them to get around the town comfortably and enjoy everything the day had to offer.

After plenty of sightseeing, shopping, conversation and laughter, everyone returned to the coach for the journey home, complete with more refreshments and the return leg of the raffle.

Days out like this offer much more than a change of surroundings. They give our members the opportunity to spend time together, strengthen friendships, try something different and create lovely, shared memories.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable day from beginning to end, and we were delighted to see so many smiling faces! A huge thank you to everyone who helped to organise the trip and make it such a special day for our club members.
