Behind the Walls of Power: A Day at Westminster

On Tuesday, 19th August 2025 a fantastic group of our clients, volunteers, trustees, and staff had the incredible opportunity to visit the iconic Palace of Westminster and Houses of Parliament in London.  This unforgettable experience was made possible thanks to the generosity of Mike Reader, MP for Northampton South, who kindly invited us to join him for a guided tour.

Mike, alongside his office manager Robert Parkinson, provided a warm, informative, and entertaining tour of this historic landmark.  Our group explored the House of Lords and the House of Commons, gaining insight into the workings of the UK’s political system.  We even had the chance to venture into some of the lesser-known areas of the building, each bursting with fascinating history and stunning artworks.  While exploring, we spotted a plaque dedicated to Spencer Perceval, the only British Prime Minister ever assassinated, and a former MP for Northampton!

It was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone involved.  We are incredibly grateful to Mike and his team for their time, effort, and hospitality, which made this amazing day possible for our group.
