The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a classic endurance trek, covering a 24-mile (38.6km) round trip and 1,585m (5,200ft) of ascent. The route takes on the iconic peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m)—usually in that order, and traditionally within 12 hours.
These three summits form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the River Ribble valley in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. Expect dramatic views, rolling countryside, and the rugged beauty of one of England’s most beloved walking regions.
We’ll begin the challenge bright and early at 6am in Chapel le Dale, walking the route anti-clockwise: starting with Ingleborough, then Pen-y-Ghent, and finishing on Whernside before returning to the start point.
This is a brilliant challenge whether you’re taking it on solo, rallying a group of friends, or bringing along a staff or community team.
All groups are led by an experienced mountain leader, who will guide and navigate along the way. A safety support vehicle will be available in case of injury, providing a secure means to retire from the event if needed. Water refill points will be set up at two checkpoints along the route, and all participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end.
