The excitement was palpable as our team gathered bright and early at The Swan & Helmet in Northampton on Saturday morning, 2nd August 2025, ready to embark on our Northampton to Belmullet Cycle Challenge. The team, a brave group from across the UK and Ireland, set off from Northampton with the aim to reach Belmullet in County Mayo, Ireland, in just six days.
With spirits high and legs primed, our brilliant cyclists set off heading north-west, beginning the 121.36 km ride through the scenic outskirts of Rugby and Lutterworth. Their destination for the first day was the charming market town of Uttoxeter, East Staffordshire, a fitting first stop on this incredible multi-day journey. As the sun set on Day 1, the team rested and prepared for the hundreds of kilometres still to come.
Every mile they pedal will bring us closer to the core goal of this event – raising vital funds to support communities across Northamptonshire and the North-West of Ireland. All funds raised through this cycle, from through the team’s own fundraising, community events, and corporate sponsorship from generous businesses across Northamptonshire and Ireland – will all be donated to our charity and six organisations local to Belmullet.
