For Sylvia (whose name has been changed for privacy), living with epilepsy means navigating unpredictable seizures, often up to ten a month, and the long recovery days that follow. Unable to work and living on a small, fixed income, she spends much of her time at home. However, her flat, with dark blue walls, exposed plaster, holes, and long-neglected paintwork, had become a daily reminder of struggle rather than a place of comfort.
That changed recently when TMDF arranged for volunteer painter, Herbie, to repaint her flat. She still feels emotional about the difference it’s made.
Herbie worked with care and consistency, something she noticed immediately. The fresh paint, an elegant light grey with just a hint of lavender, has changed how she feels in her home.
The effect of the transformation has reached her on a deeper level. When asked what she’d say to someone thinking about reaching out to TMDF, she didn’t hesitate:
Today, Sylvia’s home is no longer overshadowed by hardship, but instead filled with warmth and hope.
