Sam had always been comfortable being at home, but life over time had narrowed into quiet routines. Simple tasks, like leaving the house to meet others, felt harder and heavier.
However, while visiting his GP a few months ago, Sam heard about Stay Well Wednesdays. This is our charity’s wellbeing-focused weekly social club, with keep-fit sessions, a hot lunch, wellbeing talks and optional affordable hair and nail care. After looking into this further on our website, and getting in touch with our team, Sam decided to give it a try. He told us later:
But on arrival, Sam was met with warm greetings, friendly conversations and an inviting, relaxed space full of people taking part in keep-fit classes or just enjoying lunch together.
The session turned out to be far gentler than Sam had anticipated, with an easy atmosphere of laughter, conversation and encouragement throughout the room.
Getting involved at his own pace made all the difference, whether that was joining in a discussion group, doing gentle exercises, or savouring a hot meal with new friends.
Sam has found that Stay Well Wednesdays played a vital role in his journey, helping him regain his confidence within the warm and welcoming community created by TMDF.
