We Braved the Flames! Our 2026 Fire Walk Raises Over £6,000

On Sunday, 1st March 2026, the McCarthy-Dixon Foundation team and 29 of our bravest supporters gathered at Kingsthorpe Golf Club for an evening we won’t soon forget. The challenge was simple but daunting: to walk barefoot across hot coals, all in the name of raising vital funds for our local community.

We’re thrilled to announce that, thanks to the courage of our walkers and the generosity of our donors, we have raised over £6,000 so far!

The atmosphere was electric, with music, singing, and a fantastic crowd cheering us on. We were so impressed by the bravery on display; while one walk is a challenge, many of our participants headed back into the heat to complete two, or even three, trips across the coals!

We were delighted to be joined by staff from nine of our partner schools and we’re incredibly grateful to the brilliant teams from Barby CE Primary School, Loatlands Primary School, Northampton International Academy, Caroline Chisholm School, Moulton Primary School, On Track Education, New Horizons Academy, The Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School and  Pineham Barns Primary School for stepping up to support our work. We want to give a special shout-out to our own wonderful volunteers, Wendy and Steve, who not only helped run the event but also took the heat and completed the walk themselves.

We felt in very safe hands throughout the evening thanks to the fantastic team at UK Firewalk for their professional guidance and for helping us face the flames with confidence.

The funds raised are a lifeline for our work across Northamptonshire. Whether we’re providing food and essential items to a family in crisis, hosting social clubs to restore a sense of belonging for those facing isolation, or working alongside our partner schools to ensure no child goes without, this money allows us to be there when it matters most.
