Sunday 13th July | V and B, 10 St Giles’ Street, Northampton
It was all smiles, sunshine, and sensational sounds as Northampton came together for NN Does The Beatles, a musical celebration masterminded by the amazing Ben Fairnington, raising a fantastic £1,250 in aid of The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation.
Hosted at the much-loved V and B, the day featured back-to-back performances from a brilliant line-up of local talent across two vibrant stages, one outside, and one tucked away upstairs for a more intimate vibe.
Freya Rose, Celeste & Matt Day, Velvet Engine, Megaphoney, Lame, Harrison Hood & Hana Brooks, Irrelevant Devices and Woahgetter each brought their own unique spin to some of The Beatles’ best-loved songs. Thanks to Ben’s meticulous planning, no two acts covered the same track, giving the audience a wonderfully varied musical journey through the Fab Four’s iconic catalogue.
From soulful acoustic sets to boundary-pushing experimental sounds (yes, even music made using calculators and Gameboys!), the range of styles was as eclectic as it was joyful. And with the sun beaming down and a friendly crowd in full attendance, the atmosphere couldn’t have been more perfect.
The evening ended in unforgettable fashion, with all the performers joining together for a moving and magical rendition of Hey Jude, a true showstopper that had everyone singing along.
We were also thrilled to have Nathan Humberstone of StoneFocus Media capturing the event, and we’re so grateful to him for giving his time freely to take some absolutely stunning photos.
And of course, a massive thank you to the team at V and B for not only hosting but also donating 50p from every pint of lager sold on the day, just one of the many generous contributions that helped us reach an incredible fundraising total.
To Ben, to the brilliant musicians, to every raffle ticket buyer, donor, and tombola enthusiast, thank you. Your support means the world, and your kindness helps us continue the work we do at TMDF.
